§ 6.100.020. Additional Information.

  • A.

    Persons employed in the probation department who are assigned to probation camps shall work a 56-hour week. In any case where the Chief Administrative Officer finds, upon investigation, that certain positions in probation camps should be designated as less than 56-hour positions, he may so designate. The provisions for holidays, sick leave and vacation, as provided elsewhere in this code, shall generally apply to these positions.

    Repealed.

    C.

    Effective January 1, 1989, any person employed in a position of Group Supervisor II (Item No. 8602) in the Probation Department shall be entitled to compensation at a rate eight levels higher than that provided for such a position in Section 6.28.140 of this code. The rate or rates established by this subsection C constitute a base rate.

    D.

    1.

    In addition to other compensation provided for in this code, any person employed on a permanent, full-time basis as a Senior Probation Director (Item No. 8621) who is assigned overall administration of Central Juvenile Hall, shall, during the period of said assignment, be compensated at a rate 7.5 percent higher than that established for this position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

    2.

    In addition to other compensation provided for in this code, any person employed on a permanent, full-time basis as a Senior Probation Director (Item No. 8621) who is assigned overall administration of Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall or San Fernando Valley Juvenile Hall, shall, during the period of said assignment, be compensated at a rate 5.0 percent higher than that established for this position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

    E.

    1.

    In addition to other compensation provided for in this code, any person employed on a permanent, full-time basis as a Probation Director (Item No. 8620) who is assigned overall administration of Intake and Detention Control, Central Adult Investigations, or East San Fernando Valley Adult Area Office, shall, during the period of said assignment, be compensated at a rate 5.5 percent higher than that established for this position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

    2.

    In addition to other compensation provided for in this code, any person employed on a permanent, full-time basis as a Probation Director (Item No. 8620) who is assigned overall administration of the Challenger Memorial Youth Center, shall, during the period of said assignment, be compensated at a rate 7.5 percent higher than established for this position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

    In addition to other compensation provided for in this code, any person employed on a permanent, full-time basis as a Probation Director (Item No. 8620) who is assigned overall administration of the Foothill Juvenile Area Office, shall, during the period of said assignment, be compensated at a rate 5.5 percent higher than that established for this position in Section 6.28.050 of this code.

    F.

    Probation. Longevity Pay. 1. Eligibility. Beginning July 1, 2006, each person employed in one of the following positions shall be eligible to receive longevity pay based on years of completed aggregate service in accordance with the implementation schedule provided in paragraph 3:

    2.

    Such longevity pay shall be paid for aggregate service in the County of Los Angeles. In the case of mergers or consolidations, as provided in Section 6.02.040 of this title, agency hire date as an employee shall be recognized for the purpose of determining aggregate service. Neither lateral probation experience, military service buy-back, or non-probation related County work experience shall count toward meeting the aggregate service requirements for longevity pay;

    3.

    The longevity pay provided by this subsection shall only be paid upon departmental certification that the employee's performance is "Competent" or better. Whenever an "Unsatisfactory Performance" or "Improvement Needed Performance" evaluation is filed with the Director of Personnel, the longevity pay shall be cancelled and may not be restored until a "Competent" or better rating is so filed;

    4.

    Longevity pay based on aggregate years of service shall be implemented as follows:

    a.

    Effective July 1, 2006, in addition to the compensation provided for in Section 6.28.050, and pursuant to the provision of Section 6.08.070, an eligible employee under this subsection shall be paid additional compensation of 3 percent higher than he would otherwise be entitled to receive upon the completion of 19 years of aggregate service;

    b.

    Effective January 1, 2007, in addition to the compensation provided for in Section 6.28.050, and pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.08.070, an eligible employee under this subsection shall be paid additional compensation of 4 percent higher than he would otherwise be entitled to receive upon the completion of 24 years of aggregate service;

    c.

    Effective July 1, 2007, in addition to the compensation provided for in Section 6.28.050, and pursuant to the provisions of Section 6.08.070, an eligible employee under this subsection shall be paid additional compensation of 4 percent higher than he would otherwise be entitled to receive upon the completion of 29 years of aggregate service.

    5.

    The additional compensation provided by this subsection shall constitute a base rate.

    G.

    In addition to other compensation provided by this Code, a full-time permanent employee in the following positions who possesses a Master's Degree from an accredited university in the field of Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Public Administration, Communications, Public Health, or a closely related field as determined by the Probation Department shall be entitled to compensation at a rate two percent higher than that established for the Classification in Section 6.28.050 of this code. Compensation pursuant to this section shall not constitute a base rate bonus.
