The Director of Hospitals shall, under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, exercise general supervision over and enforce rules and regulations for the conduct and government of the County's hospitals, and of such other health, medical and charitable institutions and activities of the County as the Board of Supervisors may designate by ordinance. He shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Supervisors or by law.
