§ 10.64.010. Infectious diseases—Report and quarantine procedures.

A.

When the director of public health has determined that an infectious disease exists among animals in any other county or area of the state of California and the importation of animals from such county or area might spread such disease among the animals within the county of Los Angeles, the director of public health shall notify the board of supervisors thereof, designating and describing the county or area wherein such disease has been found and shall, with their approval, establish quarantine restrictions against such county or area as the circumstances warrant.

B.

The director of public health may refuse to permit shipments of animals originating in such areas to enter the county of Los Angeles unless accompanied by a certificate signed by a state or federal veterinarian which shall satisfactorily prove that there is no possibility that the animals for which such certificate is issued are infected with or exposed to any infectious disease. Any animals entering the county of Los Angeles from any county or area so described and designated without such certificate may be quarantined by the director of public health and confiscated or disposed of in such manner as to eliminate any danger of the animals within the county of Los Angeles being exposed to infection from such disease.
